Pulling The Plug?

As you might have noticed, I haven’t posted anything on this blog for well over a month. Work has been crazy as usual and I just haven’t had anything to say worth reading. I thought I would spare you from the garbage posts that make me feel better for posting something.

The time has come for me to say goodbye to this blog. I’ve listed a few of the reasons why I’m dumping this blog below, but in a nutshell, I don’t need this on my plate at this time. Maybe someday I’ll start another personal blog when I have more to say.

Here are some of the reasons I’ve decided to pull the plug on this blog:

  1. This blog has no focus - When I first started blogging, I was ready to jump in head first and didn’t really pay too much attention to the little details like choosing a topic or making any long-term plans. I’ve learned a lot since then and realize this blog is just dead weight.
  2. I don’t have time to post regularly - I have been buried with work for the last few months and there is no end in sight. Rather than post meaningless garbage I decided to post nothing at all for the last month or so.
  3. I am totally focused on another blog - When I have spare time, I’ve been spending it on my Wii contests blog. The Wii blog has a very narrow focus and the content almost writes itself. It’s much easier for me to manage with the limited amount of time I have available.
  4. I have too many blogs - Currently, I have three blogs of my own and occasionally ghost write for another. It takes too much brain power and time to come up with quality content on a regular basis.

I’m not sure exactly when I will pull the plug on this blog but it will happen soon. I still need to decide what to do with the traffic this blog receives on a daily basis.

You can still find me over at Wii-Contests.com if you want to say hi. :)

Well, I like this blog, so it’ll suck to see it go. But you know I’ll still email you 800 times a day…lol

you are doing the right decision, despite the fact that I like your blog and even subscribe to hear the miscellaneous topics you can come with, well, indeed you can not blog that inside, farewell . . .

Hope to keep contact in your wii blog . . .

Roberta: Thanks. I just wish I had more time to keep this blog alive. Yeah, as much as we e-mail each other, you always know what’s on my mind. :)

Icedragon: lol, thanks, I appreciate your support.

Sometimes it’s time to pull the plug, other times you can just pull back a little bit and update a little less often.

I’ve started several blogs that after a little work, didn’t seem to be performing as hoped. You have to know when to cut your losses and reinvest your time elsewhere. Looks like you’re doing that.

Wii-contests seems like a good blog, though.

That’s a shame, because this is one of the few blogs that I’d been visiting regularly!

You will be missed, Sweetie! DO please stay in touch though!

it´s always good to make such lists that point out what you have to do or even what you´re doing wrong. but sometimes they even point out that this is the end or the end is near. i hope you´ll keep up blogging. see ya

    I’m gonna miss this blog.
But it’s up to you to decide the existence of this blog.

  9. Crystal on September 10th, 2007

I haven’t commented here before, but I enjoy your blog and i’ll miss it.

What do you plan on doing with your blog?

  10. Dave RH on September 10th, 2007

I’d suggest you leave it up for a while, you never know if you’ll get the urge to post again, that happened with my blog, and I didn’t post on it for a few weeks but I’m updating it again now…I’d be upset if I took it down! :)

  11. David Culpepper on September 11th, 2007

Sorry to hear that Donovan… maybe things will slow down and you will the urge again. I hope so.

  12. Donovan on September 11th, 2007

Thanks everyone for your support. I haven’t had the heart to actually pull the plug, so I may just take Dave RH’s advice and let it sit for a while longer.

I already feel better now that I don’t have the self-imposed duty to maintain this blog. I’m amazed that even after a month of inactivity there are still people who visit.

Thank you to everyone who commented here and sent me e-mail about this post. I really appreciate it.

So, instead of farewell: I’ll catch you later! :)

Exploring the blog and then reading the post I was just stuck! But now good to see that you’ll be back!

    Cheers!

i’m sorry to hear that. It’ll be such a waste, i’ve had so much fun reading your posts. nevertheless, it might be good to take a break. Do notify us when you start your new personal blog.

  15. Tom on September 14th, 2007

I agree with the too many blogs factor. It may seem like little work to maintain a few blogs but that’s not the case. Good luck with your other blogs :)

  16. Domdat on September 15th, 2007

such a waste that you’re pulling this blog out or your concern :( of course i will visit your another blogs

i’ve pulled the plug on one of my blogs too. but it’s all for the greater good. now i’m more focused on my other blogs. All the best with your other blogs and I’m lookig forward to your new personal blog.

Sometimes we really hard to maintain our personal blog. I understood this blog has no focus. Why not making this blog as your personal blog that you can blog anything you like without looking at the site traffic?

So what you gonna do for this blogthatoutside[dot]come? just leave it here?

“I have too many blogs” I really just have the one, and even that seems like too much. I’m also a MyBlogLog member and have seen some members who have 10+ blogs… how they manage to keep that many blogs updated I have no idea :)

  22. Mike C on October 13th, 2007

It looks as though you are going to stick around right?

  23. Gaming Forums on February 6th, 2008

That’s a shame, because this is one of the few blogs that I’d been visiting regularly!

  24. Donovan on February 6th, 2008

I decided to stick around and keep this blog going. I’m not posting as frequently as I would like, but I’m trying to keep things interesting.

    Thanks for your support!

How can you keep up with 3 blogs at a time? Are they at least with different themes?

  26. Madonna on March 4th, 2008

This information very hard to understand. But anyway I will try again.

  27. Direct Home Find on April 24th, 2008

I don’t even have one blog, let alone three blogs. I guess my life just isn’t that exciting. Perhaps I will start one soon.
