Find Nintendo Wii Contests at Wii-Contests.com

Do you hear the sound of crickets around here? I thought so.

I’ve been buried with work here lately and haven’t found much time to post anything worth reading. On top of my insane workload, I started another project to use up any remaining scraps of free time I can muster. Wanna know what my new project is? A new blog, of course.

I just launched a another blog specifically focused on free Nintendo Wii contests. Wii-Contests.com is a resource that lists any contests, sweepstakes, or giveaways that are related to the Nintendo Wii.

Here are the reasons I decided to start another blog:

1. I want to win a Nintendo Wii. - There have been quite a few contests lately where the grand prize is a free Nintendo Wii. I really didn’t feel right posting several blog entries on this blog for the sole purpose of entering a contest. I thought my readers might appreciate it.

2. I want to give away a Nintendo Wii. - I would love to give away a free Nintendo Wii as a prize in my own contest. At this point, I’m not making enough money from my blogs to justify the purchase of a Wii in order to give it away, so I thought I would try to win one instead.

3. I’m still searching for my million dollar idea. - You never know if your idea is any good unless you throw it out there and see where it lands. I don’t mind investing a little money and tons of time into an idea I think has merit. I’m not expecting this new blog to be the next big thing, but I do believe that action breeds innovation and this venture may lead me to a more profitable idea.

4. People like free stuff and the Nintendo Wii is hot! - I’ve been brainstorming ideas for a new site with Roberta for a while. There are three things that convinced me to move forward with Wii Contests:

  • A decent domain name was available. Wii-Contests.com was available, which really surprised me. Although, this was the third domain I bought after I started the process of searching for names. The two other domains I bought are: wii-giveaway.com and wii-cheap.com.
  • The content almost writes itself. I created several Google Alerts to notify me of new Wii contests and added a contact form for readers to tell me about contests they find. I didn’t plan to have too many “discussion” type posts on Wii Contests; it’s more about contest listings. Of course, when I find a Wii contest online, I write-up a unique listing and give credit where applicable.
  • It’s an opportunity to learn more about Internet marketing. I’ll admit that I’m still a novice at Internet marketing. This site gives me the chance to try my hand at aggressively marketing a site with potential and seeing how successful I can be at monetizing it without alienating my current readers.

5. I dig the Nintendo Wii. - I think that in order to be successful with any venture, you must have passion for your subject. There’s no shortness of passion here: I think the Nintendo Wii has already changed the future of gaming and I am excited to see what comes next.

I’d really like to hear your thoughts on my new blog. Do you think it’s a good idea or am I just crazy?

Any reason why the first “Wii-Contests.com” link goes to http://inshapeonline.com/?

Oops! I must have had that on my clipboard.

Thanks for catching that for me, it’s fixed now. At least it wasn’t a porn site. :)

I’m not sure if it’s a good idea since you already have so much on your plate but I sure as hell will love to win one! :D

Ice Dragon: I’m entering all the contests I post about if I can, so over time I think I have a good chance. It would be really cool if I could give one away.

Lis: Yeah, it’s probably not a good idea, but if someone wins one because of me, I’ll be happy.

I was surprised at how many Wii contests there are on a continual basis. It should be pretty easy to keep the site updated.

Fact #4: I won a Nintendo in a grocery store giveaway, then traded that in for an SNES. Those are the only gaming consoles I’ve ever owned. Oh, how gaming has evolved.

I’m curious to know how this page is ranking for your keyword which I assume is “free Nintendo Wii”. Is it doing well?

  12. Donovan on August 15th, 2007

Number 9 in Google for “free Nintendo Wii” in 21 days. Not too bad.

“Wii contests” is number 3 in Google in the same time frame.

I’m happy with my search marketing results to say the least.

  13. Cash Crate on August 15th, 2007

Yep that’s pretty good results. Seems like your SEO is right on target. Nice work!

Hey Donovan, keep an eye on how your search traffic performs if your site moves from position 9 up to say 6 or 5. It’s possible that traffic will be lower (because the outside positions stand out more than middle ones). Be interested to see if you find that to be the case!

  15. Donovan on August 17th, 2007

Thanks for the tip, Alastair. I didn’t really think about it that way, but you have a good point.

    Hi,
This is a good post. This is the stuff I was actually looking for.

I have a question though – Frequent number of times I have got a warning as “spam” when I try bookmarking on sites like dig.com or muti.com.

I don’t have any spam pages or websites.

Any idea why do I meet with all these?

    Thanks.

This is a great idea- I’m amazed there are any decent domains left. I think you’ll find success with your new blog, and I wish you the best of luck! I’ll try to visit on another computer that doesn’t hate me.

The Nintendo Wii Contests are indeed a good reason to be starting another blog. They are good enough to get me to start even my first one!

Cheap Wii games are the hottest property from Nintendo, “but how do I download them, what files should I download and from which media company”? Compelling questions that need to be answered before entering into the world of unlimited downloads.

    i love wii
