Sunday Morning Double-Take - 07/01
This is the start of my weekly link round-up to share the love with my fellow bloggers. Every Sunday, I’ll post about some of the interesting things I found during the week.
It’s called the double-take because you get two links for being that damn interesting. Here we go:
- Lis has a penchant for stick men and she digs Monty Python. She is a riot!
- David Culpepper tells us how to avoid common blogging mistakes and is giving away $200 for the 1000th comment.
- The Daily Entrepreneur is selling his blog, so if you want to buy a blog with serious potential, place your bid.
- Jonathan doesn’t want you to buy him a beer and gives us smart posts worth reading.
- Roberta Ferguson compiled a list of Rockin’ Girl Bloggers and needs your help to win a contest.
- Bob is on the verge of dethroning John Chow and is having way too much fun with boobs.
This week, I started getting more active on MyBlogLog, so I thought I would throw a shout-out to all the kind folks that are on my contact list or joined my communities.
Thanks
You are very welcome! Keep up the good work!
I’m a riot! If you buy my action figure, it’ll come with a troop of riot police and its own protective gear. Batteries sold separately.
Thanks for the link love
Lis: They’d be stick figures, right?
You’re very welcome, Roberta.
Thanks for the mention, I’ll make your badge as soon as 9 more do the same! I appreciate it!
Ben
Hey thanx a bunch for the mention in your post! really appreciate it!
Jon: No problem at all. I really enjoy your blog.
Hey, thanks!
I think Lis reminds me more of Quiet Riot. In a good way.
Nice to see someone sharing the link love, keep it up!
Ben: No problem. Good luck selling your site!
If you do sell your site, are you going to write an ebook or in-depth analysis to let us know how you did it and what mistakes to avoid?
Jason: No problem at all. I totally agree with you regarding Lis, after all, she does rock! LOL!
Marketing Mand: Just doing my part, you know. I’ve got all these free links laying around taking up space, so I’ve got to get rid of them somehow.
Donovan- If my site does in fact sell, I will definitely make a final post explaining why I decided to sell, what obstacles I had to overcome, and how my site became so successful in the month it was up.
Unfortunately, no one has even submitted a bid yet
Ben: Cool. I’m always interested in reading the post-mortem analysis of these kinds of deals. They help me feel like I’m prepared if I ever decide to sell one of my sites.
It doesn’t surprise me that no one has bid yet. I know I would have a hard time placing a value on the potential of a new blog.
One of the things I think that’s hurting you is the domain name. It’s not portable because it’s your name. As soon as someone takes over your blog, they lose quite a bit of the orgainc searches because they have to change the domain name.
If it were my site, I would change the domain name and build the traffic back to the same levels (or more) and try to sell it then. Either that, or offer to 301 redirect BenjaminCass.com to the buyer’s new domain name for like 6 months or so. Long enough for the new domain name to get well seated in the search engines.
My $.02, not that you asked for it.
