Is Akismet Killing My Legitimate Trackbacks?
Two weeks ago, I changed the hosting provider for my blogs and implemented Akismet to reduce my comment spam. Since that time, I’ve noticed that I don’t have any trackbacks listed in the comments of any of my posts.
It’s sad that it took me two weeks to look into this problem, because I noticed almost immediately that something was funny with the Akismet stats right after I moved my blogs to the new host. The number of spam comments Akismet “protected” me from was steadily increasing, but there were very few comments in the Askimet Spam queue.
I approved three spam comments on BlogThatOutside.com and Akismet shows there were 30 spam comments:

There have been zero spam comments on NewBlogger.net, but Akismet shows there were 18 spam comments:

There’s no way for me to know if these comments were spam, legitimate comments, or trackbacks, because Akismet was kind enough to delete them for me instead of dumping them into the spam queue for review.
Needless to say, I’ve disabled Akismet for the time being to see if the trackbacks start showing up again.

It must be my lucky day indeed!
I would appreciate any comments you have on this matter. Have you noticed this strange behavior on your blog or did I mess something up when I reinstalled my blogs?
