17 Days of Rain With No End in Sight
It’s been raining here every day for the last seventeen days and they are forecasting rain for at least the next seven. I don’t necessarily mind the rain, but here in Oklahoma, we don’t normally get this much.
We usually average 35.85 inches of precipitation each year. We’ve already had 30.01 inches of rain this year, with a staggering 8.23 inches this month. The ground is totally saturated and I have a river in front of my house.
Here’s the view from my front porch.

I’m not sure if this picture does the volume of rain justice, but I think you can see my little river just past the driveway. It’s at least 3-4 inches deep.
Normally it wouldn’t matter too much to me because I don’t have to go anywhere since I work from home. I’m starting to get a little aggravated since we are going to the lake next week for our summer vacation. It’s gonna suck if we can’t get some fishing in.
I guess we’ll have to sit around and drink beer all day instead.
Actually, I wish it WOULD rain where I live. My garden is beginning to look parched.
I hear you. Normally we’re begging for rain about now.
Last year, my garden didn’t do so well because it was so dry. I decided not to plant one this year. Doh!
We have been in a drought for about 2 months here in Alabama. Nobody can wash their cars or water their grass. Give us some of your rain!!
I certainly wish we could send our rain your way. We’ve been under flash flood warnings almost every day for the last week.
We had a little reprieve yesterday, as it didn’t rain nearly as hard as it has been. The sun was out for about an hour which was nice.
[…] we had a good time being away at the lake. It stopped raining for the most part, although, there were two days it rained for several hours. The lake level was […]
We’re in the middle of the monsoon here in Bombay and as much as I love the rain, it can get to be a bit suffocating at times. It’s going to be a huge contrast to the weather in Dubai, where we are moving in a few weeks!!
I’m not sure I could deal with a monsoon season, but I would like to experience it at least once in my life.
Good luck with your move. Stay in the shade.
Kerala is where you should go to get an amazing experience of what the monsoon is like. Stay in a ketuvellum (houseboat) in the backwaters, eat lots of seafood and get some of the world famous kerala massages.
Thanks for the tip. That sounds like a vacation of a lifetime.
Wow that’s a niceplace. Grass looks artificial.
that’s a lovely place
