The Face Behind the Blog
I was tagged by Roberta Ferguson to share a little about myself behind the scenes. The Face Behind the Blog meme was started by David Airey to encourage bloggers to share some photographs to show your personal side. Here is a glimpse into the other side of me.
I am the Lead Systems Architect for a company that sells nutritional supplements online. That’s just a fancy way of saying that I’m the lead programmer and am responsible for everything that has a power cord. I work from home full-time and telecommute to my job which is 1500 miles away. I love my job and wouldn’t give it up even if I won the lottery.
When I’m not spending countless hours in my home office I enjoy spending time with my family and working with wood in my garage. I also play classical guitar, but listen to heavy metal music, am an avid gamer, and can fix just about anything. I’ve been a geek since before it was cool and I’m okay with that.
I consider myself to be a passionate person, but my wife calls me obsessive and anal-retentive. She knows me best, so I guess we’ll have to go with her assessment. I can’t help it, I believe if you are going to do something, do it right the first time.

I don’t know about this. While my “About Me” page definitely needs some attention, I have always believed that I have a face made for radio. Well maybe it is time for me to step out of the shadows too.
I didn’t really want to post anything about myself in the beginning either, but I changed my mind.
I think it adds a personal touch to my blog, which in my opinion, is a good thing.

You listen to heavy metal? Excellent. Who are you favorite bands?
I bet you like very technical guitar riffs and flaming arpeggios - Yngwie, Dream Theater, anyone?
Ahhh, Yngwie totally rocks! I also really dig Jimi Hendrix, Steve Vai and Eric Johnson.
I took fingerstyle guitar lessons from Edgar Cruz for a short while while I was 18. I started to appreciate technical playing much more once I saw what was involved.
One of my favorite bands is Chimaira. I saw these guys play in Worcester, MA with Machine Head and have been hooked since. I took my wife to see them with Slipknot. Needless to say, she’ll never get in the mosh pit with me ever again.
I also like: Slipknot, Mudvayne, Korn, Disturbed, Static-X and some more mellow stuff like Days of the New, Chevelle, and old school Megadeth.
