Quit Smoking with Chantix - Pre-Quit Day 5
Today marks the fifth day I have been taking Chantix to quit smoking. I am still in the pre-quit phase and only have two more days left to smoke for the rest of my life. I wanted to check-in with a side effect report.
So far, the only side effect I have experienced is drowsiness when drinking alcohol. I’m not talking about drinking a 12-pack, rather, only one or two beers adds 10 pounds to my eyelids. I wasn’t very happy that I was falling asleep at 9PM during the Cavs and Pistons game this weekend. Go Cavs!
The prescription label clearly states that Chantix may cause drowsiness and that alcohol intensifies the effect, but I incorrectly assumed the label referred to drinking in excess. It certainly doesn’t help that I’m usually sleep-deprived anyway.
June 7th is my big day so stay tuned.
