New Blogger Niche
I’ve had a few short commentversations with Roberta regarding her new blogger posts, and it reminded me of something I thought was strange:
Where are all the new blogger blogs?
I’ve spent countless hours searching and reading blogs of established pro bloggers and found tons of useful information (for which I am very grateful), but I haven’t found a single blog focused on the new blogger.
What’s up with that?
If I missed your new blogger blog then your SEO skills really suck. I should be able to find your blog right away and be overwhelmed with information.
Am I asking too much?
According to the experts, successful blogs capitalize on specific niches and profit from them. John Chow’s first tip in his five beginner blogging tips is: Blog About Something Your Passionate About. (sic)
Isn’t the new blogger a laser-focused niche?
When I started my blog, I was willing to spend money on these things:
- Domain Registration
- Website Hosting
- Wordpress Templates
In the future, I may also spend money on custom graphics design and statistic tracking.
Do you see the opportunity here?
I would love to create a blog for new bloggers but I am far from being an expert. Someday I’ll be in a position to do this, just not yet. Make no mistake: If at that point I still feel like there are no resources good enough, I WILL start a new bloggers blog.
What’s your excuse?
Consider this a public challenge. We want a resource dedicated to our specific needs so we can be just like you some day.
If you are inspired to accept this challenge, I would really like to hear about it. I’ll help you shout it from the roof-tops.
Knock, Knock.
Who’s there?
Opportunity. Open the freaking door.
Ok, the freaking door is open. I’m not an expert by any means, but I’m blogging about new blogging on my personal site: robertaferguson.com
Thanks for taking me up on my challenge!
After I wrote that post, I also challenged myself to do something to help new bloggers. I’m working on some lists and things I learned in my short tenure as a blogger.
Maybe I can post these on your blog as a guest?
I don’t have wordpress MU installed or anything, but if you want to put something together, email it on over and I’ll post it with a link back to your site and your byline.
I’ll send it over when I get a chance to finish it.
Thanks!
I hear the knocking but I’m having too much fun going after smaller, “long tail” niches. I’d rather be a big fish in a tiny pond than a tiny fish in the ocean.
So for now I’ll stick with gardening, making cocktails, cooking, etc.
Good point. I guess it’s not as “long tail” as I thought it was. I’ll have to get to work narrowing the focus some more.
I was just thinking about this today too!
I was even thinking about setting everything up for a ‘newbie’ if he/she blogs about what I personally like. or maybe not… I need to develop the idea more….
I’m not sure I would go as far as setting up a blog for a newbie, but I think there should be a definitive resource that’s the “golden standard” for newbies.
One idea is to create a blog that focuses only on day 0 to 30. Specific information just to get them started.
Donovan,
I have a post setup for tomorrow that details the Day One idea…..enjoy!!

There are pro bloggers out there who make money showing people how to blog and wht to blog about. Even though those who spend money on something like that is crazy since there is so much free info on the web.
