I would add one more:

  • Invest in an additional monitor
I have been using dual monitors for over three years and recently added a third. As a programmer and web developer, I found that I was spending way too much time using Alt-Tab to switch between windows, especially when working on web pages and debugging code. Now that I’m accustomed to using multiple monitors, I couldn’t live without them.

I even convinced my boss to add an additional monitor when he bought his new computer. At first, he thought the second monitor was frivolous but he’s since changed his mind.  :)

#44 (Work from home) really works well for me.  Not only do I avoid the commute and expense of gasoline, etc, I find that I get considerably more work done at home.  It works as long as you can focus and actually work instead of watching TV or cleaning house.
